Vintage 2025 Update
Vintage is well underway in the Barossa with an earlier than average start to this year's proceedings. In fact, for the first time in our history we were picking grapes in January, with some Marsanne from Marananga kicking off the vintage. The Valley is abuzz with pickers - both of the human and mechanical variety and this year's conditions have ensured not only an early start but a short, compressed harvest period. After a spring that delivered several challenges for growers with record low rainfall and a significant frost event in early October, vintage 2025 has thrown some challenges at growers and winemakers alike. As a result of these conditions, we are experiencing lower than normal yields, and smaller berries and bunches. John observed that “there are some similarities to years like 1983 and 2007; a challenging year, but one where the well managed vineyards will shine.” Nice to have over 50 vintages experience under your belt to reflect on! |
